I first met Eleanor Ford of Sollis Jewellery on Instagram, as you so wonderfully do these days. Our mutual appreciation of tribal style, sustainable design and the made by hand, made our meeting and collaboration, as you see here really rather… meant to be. Eleanor and I are mos def from the same STYLE TRIBE.

This season, Eleanor was inspired by the jewellery of the Ndebele and Masai tribes, the “Heart of Darkness” collection is a celebration of the customs, styles and techniques of personal adornment. The collection mixes African vinyl trade beads and rubber with sparkling Swarvoski crystals and oversized pearls effortlessly fusing tribal influences with a high fashion aesthetic.

In my appetite for decoration I created a series of totems from found objects and objet d’art, each devoted to the four different moods within “Heart Of Darkness”. Led by the intimacy of jewellery, the ritual of adornment and how it has been used throughout time to demonstrate power, sexual attraction, life passages, relationships and protection … plus the colour psychology apparent in choosing particular pieces from the collection.

Inspired by the celebration of self and the beauty in the ritual of getting dressed daily. Empowering mantras to fit the four “Heart of Darkness” totems and their individual STYLE TRIBE enthusiasts were created to use when adorning yourself with pieces from the collection. If you so wish. x
Muchos thanks to an awesome team..
