Today’s weather here in London provokes hours spent reading the papers alongside breakfast in bed. In my dream world Sunday’s papers would look a lot more like Marine Hugonnier’s newspaper colour-blocking covers, a much brighter way to start the day. Don’t you think? The French, London-based artist investigates the role of the image by pasting colour-block collages over the front page images presenting pure pop and picturesque – I love the Obama edits particularly. Many of Marine’s cutouts were inspired by Ellsworth Kelly’s “Line Form Colour” for “Art for Modern Architecture”. Colour block pop and you don’t stop. Happy Sunday paper reading people.
