Friend of BDWA, London based designer Duro Oluwu has just shown his A/W 2012 collection in NYC to rave reviews of course – his bold use of colour, expertise at splicing an eclectic range of fabrics including original prints and vintage textiles surely stands out from the colour conservative crowd across the water. Add to this heady mix a group show and pop up shop entitled “Material” curated by Duro at Salon 94’s Freeman Alley Gallery on now until March 4th….who’s been a busy boy then? Discover here limited edition fashion and accessory designs from his S/S 12 collection as well as a selection of vintage and contemporary photographs, textiles, art, furniture, music, books and objets trouves. These include a collaboration with Juergen Teller, commissioned pieces from renowned architect David Adjaye, woven canvases by New York artist Tony Cox, sculpture by Ghanian artist Paa Joe, and a selection of vintage West African textiles amongst many. If you are in NYC for Fashion Week – make sure you move your ass and make it to Material.
