paper scissors ROCK!

i absolutely love these barometo lamps designed by italian designer and marble sculptor giacomo ravagli. giacomo is not bad either! composed of copper and rare italian marble these modern primitive lamps are a collaboration between the designer and edizioni nilufar for the design week to end them all – milan. an absolute must see and one of the things you should definitely do in your life – a design wonder of the world in fact. marble has long been one of my favourite materials for furniture – initiated by a wonderful robust and low-set marble-topped table i sat at as a child – it was utilised as an everyday object where we sat, played and ate. the combination of the individual marble blocks and the geometric copper shades in the barometo lamps give great form and will eventually transform when the copper shades patina into verdigris  – the wonderful green pigment that is formed when copper is exposed to air, a lamp that transforms no less. rock on.

giacomo and his lamp – i can definitely envision these in a sunken lounge room with adobe walls. will we see a 70’s flashback in interior design, the same we have seen on the catwalks of late? milan will reveal all.

tools for life.
