future puritan.

i have been a fan of the mulleavy sisters of rodarte for sometime now – their singular vision always pack a fresh punch. the strong and mesmerizing storylines behind the beautiful clothes they design and their allegiance to craft continue to intrigue me and my want for more. kate and laura had been watching the terrence malick movie “days of heaven” and taken the american plains as inspiration this time round.  the spiritualized vibe from the super apron shapes, keen cutouts, future perfect prairie goddess quilting, wicked and wiccan wheat print, elongated coats, cubist hand-knits and crochet and lace for days were both sophisticated and homespun. these are clothes made with the future in mind but with fingers kept in crafty pies and i like it! sophisticated, optimistic and filled with ritual.
